    Brussels, March 13th – This Tuesday, the European Parliament endorsed the trilogue agreement on the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). This marks a major milestone towards the decarbonisation of the European building stock.

    GD4S welcomes this revised legislation, which endorses the “fabric first” principle which prioritizes improving the thermal performance of building envelope before investing in the technical system to avoid overengineering costs, creates a solid framework for ensuring a progressive transition away from fossil fuel-based heating systems, while leaving no consumers without a reliable and affordable heating solution.

  • GD4S to Commissioner Kadri Simson: RePowerEU 35 bcm biomethane target can be achieved with the direct contribution of gas DSOs

    Brussels 23rd May – The day after the publication of the RePowerEU action plan, a delegation of GD4S representatives led by its President, Narcís de Carreras, CEO of Nedgia, met with the EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. Laurence Poiriez-Dietz, CEO of French DSO GRDF, and Dan Pantilie, CEO of Romanian DSO DGSR, also took part in the meeting.

    The meeting took place at a turning point in EU energy and climate policy, amid the energy crisis and the War in Ukraine. The RePowerEU plan sets an EU objective of 35 bcm biomethane production by 2030 to reduce Europe’s reliance on Russian gas imports. It was therefore the right moment to highlight the concrete contribution of DSOs in achieving these renewed ambitions.

  • GD4S perspective on integrating renewable gas

    Brussels, 10th March 2020. Jean-Marie Gauthey, Head of EU Affairs at GRDF, participated in the 1st Workshop organised by ENTSOG on its 2050 Roadmap for Gas Grids.
    He presented the main challenges and parameters of gas distributors on the pathway towards a performant integration of renewable gases. Key challenges focus on governance, planning, and efficient regulation of flexibility. As a conclusion, Jean-Marie Gauthey stated that the EU Green Deal should provide the legal Framework for a Renewable Gas Strategy.
