  • GD4S calls on the European Commission to recognize the role of blending hydrogen into the existing gas networks

    Brussels, 18 March 2021 – Together with more than 90 energy companies, GD4S calls on the European Commission to consider the importance of hydrogen blending in existing gas networks. The association highlights the key contribution of existing gas transmission and distribution networks, and the related facilities connected to them, as a key enabling factor to achieve the decarbonization of the European economy and to reach the objectives of the European Hydrogen Strategy.

    Brussels, 2 February 2021 – At their Annual General Assembly, the Association representatives confirmed Paolo Gallo (CEO of Italgas) for a second year as President of the Association. In a meeting with Diederik Samsom, Head of Cabinet of the Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, they reaffirmed the strategic role of gas grids as a driver for energy transition, as well as the importance of technological innovation in monitoring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

  • GD4S, EBA and NGVA Europe call on the European Commission to recognise renewable gas as a key contributor of the upcoming Mobility Strategy

    Brussels, 6 November 2020 – Gas Distributors for Sustainability (GD4S), the European Biogas Association (EBA) and NGVA Europe co-signed a joint letter to the Executive Vice President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, and Transport Commissioner Adina-Ioana Vălean, to call them to build the upcoming Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy on the complementarity of all renewable fuels, including biomethane, and all relevant engine technologies, to enable a fast, secure and affordable transition supporting the European industries.

    Brussels, 25 May 2020 - Gas Distributors for Sustainability, the association that brings together the main European players in the gas distribution sector, is further strengthened by the entry of the Greek EDA THESS. The new member, active in the distribution of natural gas in the Thessaloniki and Thessaly areas, is the seventh member of the European Association, thus reaching a network of 28 million customers.

  • GD4S perspective on integrating renewable gas

    Brussels, 10th March 2020. Jean-Marie Gauthey, Head of EU Affairs at GRDF, participated in the 1st Workshop organised by ENTSOG on its 2050 Roadmap for Gas Grids.
    He presented the main challenges and parameters of gas distributors on the pathway towards a performant integration of renewable gases. Key challenges focus on governance, planning, and efficient regulation of flexibility. As a conclusion, Jean-Marie Gauthey stated that the EU Green Deal should provide the legal Framework for a Renewable Gas Strategy.
